Wire Rope Trellis System 4020

Assembly sketch for wire rope system no. 4020

This is a simplified version of 4030, e.g., good for narrow spaces. At the same time, an ideal system for structuring and subdividing long, high walls with climbing plant arrays. Please also refer to the guidelines in our climbing plants section for support in choosing a suitable construction style (see charts at the bottom of each plant profile).

Our pre-assembled kits are suitable for all wall types, with the exception of walls with external insulation, cladding, and thin-walled concrete elements. Alternatives can be put together in all cases.

Height x Width: with a slender arrangement- up to ~3 m x 0.4 m (4.4 m x 0.4 m for Heavy / Massive Kits). With a wider arrangement: up to ~ 2.0 m x 1.0 m (3.5 m x 1.0 m for Heavy / Massive Kits). Distance between the ropes: ~15-40 cm (naturally, with a wider arrangment then more space). The middle horizontal rope should be arranged slightly above the middle of the system (this gives a  "golden ratio" aesthetic). Base is approx. 0.3, 1.2 m above the ground.

Variations: For larger widths, basic form 7010 is more suitable because it fans out the plant shoots from one base point to the desired width. With more rope and mounts the basic form is expandable as desired, e.g., as a "climbing ladder." Then, approx. every 1.5 m (2.2 m) inter-supports (mounts) need to be provided. Please inquire if necessary. Of course, the system can also be arranged horizontally, similar to 8010.

Installation: as shown in the diagrams. Please refer to the mounting tips in chart above (click on a kit for details). For "golden ratio," see above.

Vine Training: See diagrams. For vines in pots or on  small trellises/espaliers with full arches, especially for varieties which grow upright and strong and where the buds (nodes) are far apart. Bind or weave the green shoots onto the two vertical ropes (R 01). Also for vertical cordons with an off-centre growth. The branches are then respectively arranged to grow towards the other parallel rope. The distance between the two vertical ropes here should be no more than 30 cm (R 02). With a curved/wave-like training, the branches should always be oriented to grow towards the opposite parallel rope (R 03). Lead the stem of the vine so that it is 50 cm beneath the bottom edge of the trellis, no higher.
