Climbing Plant Support Nets

Climbing plant nets are particularly light, finely structured climbing systems. Under system 5050, we offer components from which climbing nets can be made on site.

Pre-assembled nets

Prefabricated nets made of stainless steel rope are an alternative to our standard product line; they are used for large, presentational areas. Spot welded grids or wire mesh can also be used as a variation; read on for examples and suggestions.

About the mesh size

In general, climbing nets shouldn't be too finely meshed (not less than 20 x 20 cm); certain plants (clematis and grapevines, most commonly) produce many shoots that remain as woody tendrils, the removal of which can be quite tedious.

Suitable climbing plants

Plant selection: If possible, avoid woody twining plants that create uncontrollable tensile stresses in the nets. Rather stem tendril climbers and petiole climbers. In addition, light plants - with no fruit at all or with fruit that is not too heavy - are preferable.
