Wisteria 'Shiro Kapitan'

A currently very popular variety with short flower clusters (up to 20 cm), but unusually large, decorative individual flowers up to 4 cm in diameter. Flowers at the same time as the foliage buds, which means that green colours are also visible during the main flowering period. Flowers later (!) than usual in mild regions and earlier in cooler regions. Summer re-flowering is pronounced, but not very strong. There is no foliage colouring in autumn. 'Shiro Kapitan' is suitable for low walls where the magnificent flowers can be admired up close. 'Shiro Kapitan' originates from Japan, has a strong fragrance and twines round to the left ('clockwise'). Poisonous seeds.

For location, pruning, training, climbing aids, structural damage, etc., see "Asian" wisteria.
