Nicopress Sleeves, PH 00030/PH 00040

Sleeve for nicopress

Product sheet

Description / Price

Press sleeves (ferrules) for "Nicopress" system made of tinned copper, extra heavy design, for stainless steel ropes. Two sizes:

  • PH 00030 for 3 mm ropes - Price

  • PH 00040 for 4 mm ropes - Price

Ferrules/press sleeves are used in exceptional cases for aesthetic and sophisticated attachment of wire ropes to wall mounts with a wall distance greater than 4 cm, as an alternative to a (detachable) mounting with cable clamps. Such ferrules are also suitable for forming branching points and for connecting wire ropes. Please refer to the general information section on rope clamps, etc.. for further support if needed.

Best with Nicopress special pliers. For each Nicopress sleeve, three individual pressings are necessary. The ferrules are gripped with the second or M-press track (3 mm rope) or the first or P-Press track (with 4 mm steel cable) of the special crimping pliers and pressed in this position. Press (squeeze) first in the middle.

To form loops, the wire rope is prepared as described, manually pretensioned using a clamping vice, and secured. This requires two clamping vices (fig. 06). Then the ferrule is pressed.

Special Features

Pressing pre-tensioned cables that have wall clearances of less than 4 cm is generally not possible with ferrules because too little space remains between the press jaws when they are attached. Rope press sleeves once crimped cannot be undone or reused. The associated cables cannot be treensioned at the attachment point. For this reason, screw clamping fixtures/tighteners may need to be incorporated in the cable run.

Picture 4: In this case the wire loops are supported by thimbles. The sleeve usually cannot be gripped by the pliers any more at such a short wall distance, which makes usual wire rope grips beeing a better choice.
