"Nelly Moser" (clematis hybrid)

Nelly Moser is a queen in the clematis world~ a beloved heirloom cultivar and the ancestor of countless hybrids, none of which has ever surpassed it. It is runner-up after the Jackmanii as the most well-known clematis. A historicically significant hybrid (ca. 1900) from France, its flowers are creamy-white to soft pink with dark pink veins. Before the veins fade in the sun (turning almost entirely white-- see below), the flowers resemble the clematis hybrid 'Dr Ruppel.' Large blooms: 16 - 18 cm, reliable blooming in May / June and August / September. Included in our hybrid-assortment for obvious reasons, and for its light colour. For low trellises and walls up to about 3 m high, well suited for potting. Our stock is mildew resistant, sourced from a Danish breeder. Refer to the large-flowered clematis general information for guidance on location, pruning, suitable trellising, etc..
