This simple, universal basic trellis form is often used for the flanking of downspouts (drainpipes), and when several are used, they can be combined side by side to form parallel green "strands." By rotating this system 90°, you get a system similar to 1060. To select a suitable construction, please view the guideline charts in our climbing plants section (at the bottom of each plant profile).

Shoot/Vine guidance: See diagrams. For simple garland, see (R 01), wherein because of the high growth altitude the lower part of the plant might carry less foliage. Therefore better plant 2 vines - and different varieties - in one hole (quiver planting) and then guide 2 offset vertical cordons (R 02), by which one vine is planted to green the lower half of the system and the other, to green the upper half. Even better are two parallel strains from separate planting holes, see (R 03).
