Winter Jasmine

Jasmine nudiflorum ~ winter jasmine ~ is a rambler that grows with long hanging shoots. Has moderately vigorous growth up to 3 m in height. It can be grown as a shrub or as a climber. With its fine and 'filigree' leaves, winter jasmine is good for detailed greening and accentuation of facades. It often appears inconspicuous during the summer. Forms dense, green mats with overhanging vegetation. Foliage from April to October. The flowers can appear before Christmas in milder winters, otherwise in February or March. The bright yellow stars are striking against a dark background. Branches should be cut before flowering; flowers open when room temp. is reached within a few days; they look like forsythia branches. The fruits (inconspicuous black berries) usually do not develop. Pruning can promote branching in winter jasmine.

Winter jasmine will grow as a shrub with no supporting trellis, but it can also be trained and formed with a wire trellis or a wood trellis. Choose an easy, medium or light trellis kit.
