How to successfully mount a metal trellis

Our trellis fittings/mounts allow maximum flexibility and can be used in a variety of ways, all of which are described below, outlined by further tips on the placement of your trellis (RG 1200X and RG 1700X) and on how to choose the right number of mounts. With our "styro" fitting, installation on externally insulated walls is also possible. When standard wall trellises are too small or not flexible enough, modular wall trellises can be used instead! The mounting of a scissor lattice RR 10000 is done differently; mounts are included in the kit.

5x the Flexibility: Versatility of the Stainless Steel Trellis

1. Our trellises have no fixed attachment points (pre-bent grommets/eyelets), so the wall mounts can be placed in the most convenient positions. This is particularly important if the masonry joints in exposed masonry determine the layout of the mounts.

2. The mounting can be done on either the horizontal or the vertical rods. The horizontal rods are better suited because the fittings can then be slightly shifted in from the outer edge of the grid, which emphasises the elegance of the trellis.

3. A specific number of attachment points is not required by the lattice shape; one is free to choose between 2 and 6 points.

4. All trellis fittings from FassadenGrün (except the models GH 04060 / GH 05060) have an 8 mm wide groove. The trellises can be positioned with a little wiggle-room; small inaccuracies in drilling are compensated in this way. The trellis is shaken/jiggled into the grooves and the position is adjusted vertically and horizontally with a spirit (water) level.

5. A variety of trellis mounts with different wall distances, prices, designs, etc.. are available.

Anordnung in Gruppen

Which trellis mounts should I use?

Stainless-steel fittings (mounts) should always be used to mount stainless-steel trellises and grids. If inferior holders made of galvanized steel are used, corrosion and rust will occur at the contact points. Stainless-steel trellis fittings from FassadenGrün can nevertheless be used for (large) galvanised grids. See "

stainless steel

" for more information on elecrolytic corrosion protection. Plastics and stainless steel can also be used together without problems.

Four-Point Attachment

The standard solution! The stainless-steel trellises are rigid, and the bars don't need to be tensioned like the cables on a cable-system. Therefore, the wall fittings don't have to bear the extra load of the tensioned cables, and four mounting points really are the optimal solution.

Five-Point Attachment

Here the four-point attachment (one mount in every corner) is supplemented by an additional point exactly in the middle of the trellis. This solution is recommended if the medium-sized trellis (170 cm x 60 cm with 6 mm rods) in the inexpensive (but slightly less powerful) version-- 5 mm wire instead of 6 mm-- is installed.

Six-Point Attachment

In exceptional cases, six mounts can be useful to increase the stability of medium-sized trellises (170 cm x 60 cm); for example: in public areas, to prevent vandalism, or when the trellis grid is mounted on a facade with polystyrene ("styro") 'insulation' panels with the fitting

Which side on the exterior?

Trellises are usually mounted with the longer vertical rods facing outwards (visible side). This emphasises the vertical lines.

Base of the Trellis

How high above the ground should the trellis be placed? 30 - 70 cm above the ground is usual, depending on the expected height of the plant. The plants should be guided above the splash-water zone at the base of the wall. If the plants are grown in a container, the trellis grid must be set a little higher. Bamboo rods may be used to guide the shoots to the trellis, with binding material used to secure them to the trellis.
