Square posts made from black locust wood (Robinia pseudoacacia), air-dried, rough-sawn, untreated, pointed at one end. The posts have been naturally impregnated as the wood grew. They contain ‘robinetin’, a polyphenol compound, and are therefore better protected against rot than other woods. The toxin is encapsulated within the wood cells and does not penetrate to the surface, but acts against insects and fungi that seek to destroy the wood. Two sizes are available:
1.5 m length, 22 mm x 22 mm
1.8 m long, 25 mm x 25 mm
Uses
As garden stakes, i.e. for perennials, roses, beans, raspberry trellises, berry bushes and small fruit trees. An eco-friendly alternative to pressure-treated wooden stakes. Due to their extreme hardness and rigidity, the stakes are easy to drive into the ground.
