As a subsection of "Concrete walls", this sections addresses partitions, panels, shear walls and how to recognise them in a "Home and Garden" setting.
All FassadenGrün kits are fully compatible with these surfaces, provided the wall has a sufficient thickness. Extremely thin concrete walls: 8cm and below, are discussed in their link. Large, technical buildings, such as embankment walls of exposed concrete are also separately examined.
Shear walls, such as those depicted on the right are mostly made from standard, heavy, reinforced concrete, either cast locally in the appropriate moulds or from pre-cast concrete products, such as slabs, which often contain a certain amount of steel reinforcement. Usually fair-faced concrete is used but the aesthetic can easily be improved by painting or plastering.
All 5 designs with the standard mounting brackets are suitable, however, the absolute ideal would be to combine a Medium - 'Classic’ design with the cross bracket WM 10081, together with brass rawl plug. Please make a note in your oder if you choose this variant.
Avoid hitting reinforcement strands within the concrete when drilling as this can damage the drill bit and disrupt the bore hole. If it isn’t exposed concrete, but instead concrete walls with a plaster layer less than 1cm thick then this option is out (see photo).
With intermediate 'Classic' kits and even with Heavy or Massive kits, problems can occur when the walls thickness only slightly exceeds 8cm. When using a Heavy kit, the shorter mount WM 12161 can be secured with bonded. If in doubt about your walls thickness, proceed with caution and treat it as a 'thin concrete wall'.
