“Lakemont Seedless” is seedless! This variety produces medium-sized bunches with rather small berries, but unlike some other seedless varieties, they do not fall off the stem. Does not require wasp protection.
Price: potted plant / Price: bare-root
(also known as ‘New York 15305’, American table grape variety bred from “Ontario” x ‘Thompson Seedless’ (‘Sultanina’))
Bare-rooted from March - May; reserving a plant (from January on) is recommended due to limited annual quantity. Available all year as a potted plant (3 litre).
The seedless variety ‘Lakemont Seedless’ was developed together with ‘Himrod’, “Romulus” and ‘Interlaken’ in a breeding and selection process from 1922 to 1935 in the USA. All four varieties have the same parents, but differ significantly from each other. Within the group, ‘Lakemont’ is not one of the particularly early-ripening and sweet varieties. The taste is rather fresh and only moderately sweet, but becomes sweet after hanging for a longer period of time. The long harvest window of approx. 4 weeks is a quality feature of this variety and extends the grape season! Unlike “Himrod” and “Romulus”, for example, the individual berries do not fall off the stem when ripe, but hang firmly enough. And another plus: unlike the very sweet varieties, the berries do not need to be protected from wasps by netting. The fungus resistance of “Lakemont Seedless” is considered good.
From the 2nd or 3rd year, medium-sized, 15–20 cm long, loosely branched, meaning the berries do not press against each other.
