Green Awnings

Climbing plants can be used to form awnings and canopies on most outer walls. Vines are often used for this; the overhanging vine arbour is common in southern European countries, where the 'baking' effect of the walls is intense and can harm the plant. The vegetation is led away from the facade and thus provides welcome shade. You'll find many suggestions and examples under grapevine training for canopies in our section on climbing plants.
