Many climbing plants with a rather weak supporting (stem) structure tend to develop a pendulous habit... that is, they hang, and can thus be used as trailing or cascading plants on a facade greening. By clicking on a specific plant species, you can see whether or not the plant expresses this characteristic. The striking quality of the pendulous/hanging growth habit is that no growth supports are required; thus, large walls can be greened at a relatively low cost. Retaining walls are a good example, whereby the plants grow downwards over the wall from a garden bed or planting strip near the top of the wall. Below you can see some examples of such hanging plants.
